Weight Loss Challenge
So, I need a major kick in the ass with the dieting/exercise thing. A few friends on my f-list did a weight loss challenge that seemed to be helpful for them.

I would like to start my own.

It will go like this, if you're interested:

1. Let me know if you are interested in joining and give your email in the comments or email it to me at: corvaxgirl [at] gmail [dottie] com.

2. When I get everyone who is interested, we will start a group email where you will state what you are doing to loose weight (stop drinking soda, exercise, weight watchers, atkins, the zone, whatever). It will be assumed that you are a reasonable adult who has chosen to do sensible things such as adding more water and fruits and veggies to your diet and that you won't be doing some kind of horrible crash diet and/or engaging in eating disorder behavior.

3. When we have everyone who wants to do this, there will be a "weigh in day" where everyone gives their starting weight to the group. Every week, we will weigh in and email to the group. Everyone will be on the honor system to report honestly.

4. At the end of the month, whoever has lost the most weight will get $10 from each person participating. This will be done through Paypal for sake of ease. So if ten people are participating, the "winner" will get $100. Everyone has a week to pay the "winner". If you don't pay within a week, you'll be removed from the challenge.

If this sounds interesting to you, but you think $10 a month is too much, we can lower it to $5 if that's the concensus.

Let me know if you're interested!

sending you an email.
[another version of this i've seen and admired is: each day i do not do x thing [ie exercise for 15 mins] i send x amount of money [ie $5] to x group i hate [ie rep. party]...it appears to be very very motivational ;)]

I would be interested in doing this as well. My email is thelittledeer@gmail.com. If anything, I need a push to just eat healthier, and get more exercise, and it would be awesome to help others motivate themselves to do the same.

Please to be checking your emails.

Fair warning, I've got way more to lose than you skinny people. Actually, maybe that's a disadvantage...

See, the problem with this is I am already down almost 80lbs from peak, almost 30 for this latest batch of weight loss, and am working on some things that are building muscle... aka, though I will continue loosing, I do nopt want to just send people money every month.

Only trouble is I'm on tour which makes any diet/exercise thing harder. So maybe I should wait a month?

Here is my thought process, and of course, ymmv. I suck at dieting/exercise personally because there is always something - a special occasion, a sucky thing happening, crazy busy at work, sick, fibro, etc. Life is going to keep happening to me and prevent me from having what part of my brain would deem optimal diet/exercise conditions.

We're not really fantastic dieters/exercisers, we're not hitting the gym for hours and sticking to whatever diet we're doing with religious zeal.

I would say maybe touring would be a really good chance to try to train yourself to make better decisions (I was at an irish pub a few nights ago, and I'm like oooooooohmigod irish breakfast! Corned Beef! Dear god! I *could* have gotten mussels [then it would have been too pricey] and I *could* have asked for veggies instead of crisps. But instead I had a prime rib sandwich, took a bit out and ate my crisps with Magners. I felt like a failer at the time, but the thing is, I made a pretty good decision all told instead of being like, fuck it. Irish breakfast and cake).

Are you going to hit the gym? Prolly not. But could you ask Sooj or D to take a slow leisurely 20 minute walk sometime during the day? Prolly. Will it clear your head a little? Quite possibly.

So my point is, of course do what's going to make you least crazy, but it may help! Even if you maintain your weight, it's better than gaining. With this challenge, imo, even when you "loose" you still win because you're actively trying to become healthier.

Excellent! Yeah, I realized that she reads my LJ, too but I did wind up sending her an email just in case she didn't see it in time. I'm glad she's joined up!
